Exams, Exams & More Exams

Recently I have been studying non-stop for my finals this year, specially for my maths and economics finals.

I have too much pressure on my shoulder right now, I'm juggling between planning a party, getting, at least, a 15 or more in my finals, dance rehearsals (did I forget to mention that I'm having a really important party that same day) three times a week, going to the gym every week day, having my chinese classes, and doing regular homework.

Stress, Stress, STRESS!

I would much rather like to be reading all day, and going out with my friends, literally ANYWHERE!
As a little push for me to succeed I said to myself while looking at the mirror, "Ok Marisa, you are going to pass all of these exams, and you are not going to have to worry about extra studying during your holidays, and you are going to treat yourself by going on a trip to somewhere nice, maybe buy cute shoes, dresses, more makeup, and go out a little more".

Obviously, I have a really short attention span, and just after a little more than 45 minutes of study, you can find me watching the all new season of project runway (in love with the designers, specially , watching some YouTube videos (specially Zoella, Beauty Crush, Miss Glamorazzi or Tanya Burr) or just lying in bed, looking at the ceiling, listening to some music.
I think I should really start paying more attention in my studies. (Started craving some frozen yogurt at this point)

These are the courses that I'm taking:
      • Spanish
      • English (Literature & Language)
      • Maths
      • P.E. (Theory)
      • Art (A FOUR HOUR EXAM! *yes i know that it is originally 8 hours)
      • Economics
      • Biology, Physics & Chemistry
They don't really seem like much, but when you have to study all of the subject that you have learned since March, it's quite a lot.

So, What is my study plan?
Everyday I get to go back home after my exams, so i have more than 12 or so hours to study.
What I will do is that by every hour or so of study I will have from 15- 20 minute breaks to watch a YouTube video, or see a little bit of TV, her some music, or read a little. I think that that is quite good. Today I'm going to try to finish most of my science studies, and I'll see what happens during my exams.

Who knows, maybe if i really study correctly you will see me writing some posts from NYC, LA, or maybe just some from what I have been doing with my summer (over here we have summer from January till March), obviously not studying.
Wish Me Luck... i need it
Bye

Saturday Night Obsessions - Gossip Girl

"...And who am I?

That's one secret I'll never tell.

You know you love me.
Xoxo... Gossip Girl"

That line gave me the chills.

Yes, this series has been gone for almost a year, but I'm still crying due to the fact that it ended.

With this show I fell in love with fashion, Chace Crawford, and most importantly, New York city. I think that New York is one of the best cities in the world, I could write a lot about how much I love it, but I think that that would be too much writing for this blog.

Why do I love this show?
Why not? It has everything.
I could just stay here for days writing about the fashion and the shots from the city are just how beautiful are the sights of the city.

The next time I go to New York I would like to stay at the Empire hotel, have lunch at the plaza, sit down on the steps of the MET and go shopping with either Blair or Serena, maybe both of them. I also wouldn't mind if they could take me to a party or something like that, and maybe a weekend at the hamptons.
This show has also had a huge influence in my wardrobe, aside from Blair's and Serena's wardrobe, I really liked how
Vanessa dressed sometimes.
Who wouldn't like to go to their parties, so high class and full of important people (AND A LOT OF DRAMA)
I think that the more I think about it, I wouldn't really want want that life that much, maybe just the fashion, and not the drama, but the GUYS from that show. Chace Crawford is so dreamy, I wouldn't mind meeting him, or have a Chuck Bass in my life.

If you haven't seem this show, I seriously recommend this to you.

And I guess that's it, I will leave you with the simple words of gossip girl...

You know you love me,
xoxo
That was just plain weird,
Bye ❤️

Edgar Degas

Recently in my art class I have been researching about impressionism.

What is impressionism, you may ask...
Well, it is a style of art that was founded by a group of parisian artist back in the 19th century. The group was formed by artist like Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Camille Pissarro, Paul Cezanne, Auguste Renoir, Alfred Sisley and Berthe Morisot.

Edgar Degas is probably one of my favorite painters, this is because, since I am a dancer, I love how he represents them in most of his paintings;
These are some of my personal favorites.
Dancer in her dressing room, 1879

Two dancers o stage, 1877

The step with battement, 1979

The green dancer, 1879

Dancers in pink 1885

Dance class at the opera, 1872
The main reason why I like so much Degas is because of the way that he captures the movement, and how he paints women so well, with every single detail.

Head stand

Happy Thursday everyone!

Just a quick little blog right now, kind of stressed preparing myself for my exams next week (who doesn't hate those?)

You may be wondering, why headstand?
Well, my sister is an ashtanga yoga teacher and she has been practicing for approximately 2 years (I have to ask her). Last Sunday we were in my other sister's apartment... And this happened.

So, that's it.
Just a short blog for today.
p.s. I seriously recommend this type of yoga (ashtanga) it's one of my favorite kinds of excercise

Can't Help Myself

If you don't like one direction, STOP READING!

As I put it last Monday, I am currently obsessed with the song Story Of My Life, and my obsession just grew by 18275637153% maybe even more...

The video was just posted this morning, and I have seen it at least 10 times, IT IS SO PERFECT. Plus, us directioners have to break the vevo record.

Aside from the fact that I am fangirling right now, the video is flawless, it was stunningly filmed, and I loved the concept, the pictures, they are priceless and beautifully recreated (Zayn & his sister, Harry & his mom, Louis & his grandparents, Niall & his brother and Liam & his family), and even the story that the video has, it's really beautiful.

As Tyler Oakley put it:

I was left speechless when I saw the video.
I'm just in love with it.
We need to break the vevo world record!

My Favorite Disney Movies

Happy Sunday! or Monday, Tuesday, or... you know what I mean

Today I felt the urge to write a little bit more, but I couldn't really find a topic, so I started thinking about movies, and then I remembered my childhood memories of going to the cinema to watch disney movies with all of my family. So I decided to make a list of some of my favorite disney movies of all time. (Only the movies that got released in the cinema)

  • Toy Story 1, 2 & 3: If I would've put these movies separately in the list, then it would have been a rather long post. I just absolutely adore all of the characters, who doesn't? And I think that it's nearly every kid's favorite movie, also, who hasn't cried in the 3rd one?
  • Monsters Inc: MIKE WAZOWSKI! Oh my god, that character made me laugh so hard, and Boo is so adorable. I always wonder how she may look grown up, don't know why... I really liked the prequel too, but it will never surpass the original one.
  • UP: That movie had me crying in the first 5 minutes! I love the storyline, and I think that the meaning of the movie is that the best trips are the ones you never intended to make, and sometimes the greatest adventures are the ones you barely noticed you were having.
  • Finding Nemo: Just keep swimming, just keep swimming. Dory is one of my all time favorite animated characters! I think that this movie has a much deeper emotionally than most people would think, all of Marlin's wife and all but one of his children have been killed, and it really highlights the theme that a parent would do anything for their son or daughter.
  • Paperman: This isn't actually a movie, it's a short film, but I really like the story of this. I like that they made it in black and white, and it is a typical romantic story, but it's not exaggerated, and it's quite lovely
  • The Incredibles: It is safe to say that this was the first superhero movie that i ever saw, not Superman, not Batman, not X men, The Incredibles, and it is one of my favorite's. I could watch this movie over and over again.
  • Lilo & Stitch: I loved this movie so much that I actually named my dog Stitch, and after watching it I just wanted to listen to Elvis Presley songs all day, hula dance and live in Hawaii for the rest of my life.
  • Fantasia: This is a classic. There is no way to describe how perfect this movie is, I absolutely love how the movie revolves around music, and i think that this movie has the most remembered mickey mouse character, sorcerer mickey.
After looking though all of these movies, I realized that most of them are Pixar, and i haven't put any disney princesses, maybe you just have to wait and see if I write anything about them...

Saturday Night Obsessions - Pretty Little Liars

Yesterday I posted a blog all about the books that I have to read, and I mentioned that I was organizing my book shelf, and all of the memories came back to me, obviously book memories. So while I was organizing this I came across one of my favorite book series:

*FYI I spent nearly an hour trying to set up the books

The Pretty Little Liars (PLL) series consist of the books:

  1. Pretty Little Liars
  2. Flawless
  3. Perfect
  4. Unbelievable
  5. Wicked
  6. Killer
  7. Heartless
  8. Wanted
  9. Twisted
  10. Ruthless
  11. Stunning
  12. Burned
  13. Crushed
  14. Deadly (To be released on December 3rd 2013)
  15. Toxic (To be released June 3rd 2014)
And the companion novels:
  • Pretty Little Secrets (Set between Unbelievable and Wicked)
  • Ali's Pretty Little Lies (Prequel to the series)
That seems like quite a lot of books, and yes, they are a lot of books, but once you start reading them you will not want to put the books down. Some people may think that it is the cliched teen girl books, but they are so much more, I mean, yes, the books obviously have the girly moments, teens are the target audience, but many parts of the books are really interesting and thrilling.

Pretty Little Liars is about a group of four friends - Aria Montgomery, Hannah Marin, Emily Fields and Spencer Hastings - that are trying to solve their best friend's Alison Dilaurentis murder.

Pretty Little Liars is also a TV show, it stars Lucy Hale as Aria, Ashley Benson as Hannah, Shay Mitchell as Emily Fields and Troian Bellisario as Spencer Hastings. This is show is also one of my obsessions, and it has been ever since it's premiere back in 2010.
Yes, watching the TV show is an option instead of reading all 15 books (as of november 2013), but the TV show is only BASED in the books, so both things are quite different.
I will not say the differences because then I would be spoiling the whole book series or the show, but I seriously recommend to watch the show and read the books, they are two completely different things.

How did I came across PLL?
Well, I had just finished watching the movie "Bring It On: In It To Win It" and I was wikipedia stalking Ashley Benson, when all of the sudden "Pretty Little Liars" appeared on the screen, I really liked the name so I clicked it (that was back in 2010, I only read stuff that sounded pretty). I read that it was going to premiere, i believe in june, and i immediately ordered all of the 8 books in amazon (the series was originally only going to be 8 books) and I became obsessed with them. I am also obsessed with the show, but that may be a whole new blog post.

I think that most of the teenage girls across america have heard of the books, or at least the show, so they may not be new to you, or maybe they are, who knows?
I absolutely love this book series, and I hope that you decide to read the books, either if you watch the series or not, they are pretty entertaining, or maybe not, depends on the type of person you are...

Well, that's all I have to say.
Bye.

Books

Happy Friday everyone, unless you are reading any other day of the week...

Today since I had no school I decided to organize a little y book shelf, as soon as I started looking thru them I found out that there were a lot of them that I haven't read, either because I just got them, or because I have been revising for exams and all that jazz. (if I don't get a 14 in my gcse pe preparation exam I fail the year!)

So, here are some of the book that I MUST read before the end of the year, or until before the beginning of the next term.
I will put the description at the back of the book.

  • The Six Rules Of Maybe - Deb Caletti: "Scarlett Hughes is overly involved in the lives of everyone around her, and exceptionally interested in the habits of her neighbors. But Scarlett is thrust solidly into her own life when her sister, Juliet, returns home from school—pregnant and surprisingly married to a sweet, handsome man whom she seems to have no interest in, but who is hopelessly in love with her. Forced to take a look inward for the first time, Scarlett discovers the necessity of dreams, as well as the necessity of facing reality and speaking the truth."
  • The Notebook - Nicholas Sparks: I bet that most of you have heard about this book, but never the less her is the description "The Notebook begins with the story of Noah Calhoun, a rural Southerner recently returned form the Second World War. Noah is restoring a plantation home to its former glory, and he is haunted by images of the beautiful girl he met fourteen years earlier, a girl he loved like no other. Unable to find her, yet unwilling to forget the summer they spent together, Noah is content to live with only memories...until she unexpectedly returns to his town to see him once again."
  • The summer trilogy (The Summer I Turned Pretty, It's Not Summer Without You and We'll
Always Have Summer.) - Jenny Han: I believe this is going to be a tv series... "
Belly has always lived for the summertime because it means all her favorite things: swimming, the beach and the Fisher boys, Conrad and Jeremiah. She has spent every summer with them at Cousins Beach for as long as she can remember. She has always been in love with Conrad and finally, one summer, it seems like he might have feelings for her too. But it turns out, so does Jeremiah.
As the summers go on, Belly has to choose between two brothers who love her as she comes to the realization that she will have to break one of their hearts."
  • The List - Siohban Vivian: "An intense look at the rules of high school attraction -- and the price that's paid for them.
It happens every year. A list is posted, and one girl from each grade is chosen as the prettiest, and another is chosen as the ugliest. Nobody knows who makes the list. It almost doesn't matter. The damage is done the minute it goes up.
This is the story of eight girls, freshman to senior, "pretty" and "ugly." And it's also the story of how we see ourselves, and how other people see us, and the tangled connection of the two."
  • Amy And Rogers Epic Detour - Morgan Matson: I have actually started this book a while ago, but I can't manage to finish it, even though it has really good reviews "Amy Curry thinks her life sucks. Her mom decides to move from California to Connecticut to start anew--just in time for Amy's senior year. Her dad recently died in a car accident. So Amy embarks on a road trip to escape from it all, driving cross-country from the home she's always known toward her new life. Joining Amy on the road trip is Roger, the son of Amy's mother's old friend. Amy hasn't seen him in years, and she is less than thrilled to be driving across the country with a guy she barely knows. So she's surprised to find that she is developing a crush on him. At the same time, she's coming to terms with her father's death and how to put her own life back together after the accident. Told in traditional narrative as well as scraps from the road--diner napkins, motel receipts, postcards--this is the story of one girl's journey to find herself."
  • Crushed (Pretty Little Liars book #13) - Sarah Shepard: "It's springtime in suburban Rosewood, which means iced soy lattes, fresh manicures in shimmering pastels—and prom. But while everyone else is flipping through the racks at Saks in search of the perfect dress, Hanna, Spencer, Emily, and Aria are on a different kind of hunt: They're looking for A. . . .
Hanna puts her campaign for prom queen on the back burner to volunteer at the burn clinic, where one of A's victims is recovering. Emily digs into Ali's past at the mental hospital with some very crazy consequences. Spencer contacts a private eye to help her stalk her stalker. But when their sessions get a little too private, they may forget to keep their eyes on A. . . . And Aria's worried that A is even closer than she thought. When her dark secret from Iceland finally comes to light, she discovers that maybe, just maybe, the one person she's been trying to hide the truth from has known all along.
The liars are finally taking the fight to A. But no matter what they do, A's always one step ahead, ready to crush the girls completely.
  • The Maze Runner - James Dashner: Can't wait to see the movie!!! plus Dylan O'Brien is HOT!! "When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his first name. His memory is blank. But he’s not alone. When the lift’s doors open, Thomas finds himself surrounded by kids who welcome him to the Glade—a large, open expanse surrounded by stone walls.
Just like Thomas, the Gladers don’t know why or how they got to the Glade. All they know is that every morning the stone doors to the maze that surrounds them have opened. Every night they’ve closed tight. And every thirty days a new boy has been delivered in the lift.
Thomas was expected. But the next day, a girl is sent up—the first girl to ever arrive in the Glade. And more surprising yet is the message she delivers.
Thomas might be more important than he could ever guess. If only he could unlock the dark secrets buried within his mind."
  • Divergent - Veronica Roth: LOVE LOVE LOVE Shaileen Woodley, want to see the movie "In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue--Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is--she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself."
  • Dear John - Nicholas Sparks: "An angry rebel, John dropped
out of school and enlisted in the Army, not knowing what else to do with his life--until he meets the girl of his dreams, Savannah. Their mutual attraction quickly grows into the kind of love that leaves Savannah waiting for John to finish his tour of duty, and John wanting to settle down with the woman who has captured his heart. But 9/11 changes everything. John feels it is his duty to re-enlist. And sadly, the long separation finds Savannah falling in love with someone else. "Dear John," the letter read...and with those two words, a heart was broken and two lives were changed forever. Returning home, John must come to grips with the fact that Savannah, now married, is still his true love—and face the hardest decision of his life."
  • Safe Heaven - Nicholas Sparks: "When a mysterious young woman named Katie appears in the small North Carolina town of Southport, her sudden arrival raises questions about her past. Beautiful yet self-effacing, Katie seems determined to avoid forming personal ties until a series of events draws her into two reluctant relationships: one with Alex, a widowed store owner with a kind heart and two young children; and another with her plainspoken single neighbor, Jo. Despite her reservations, Katie slowly begins to let down her guard, putting down roots in the close-knit community and becoming increasingly attached to Alex and his family.
But even as Katie begins to fall in love, she struggles with the dark secret that still haunts and terrifies her . . . a past that set her on a fearful, shattering journey across the country, to the sheltered oasis of Southport. With Jo’s empathic and stubborn support, Katie eventually realizes that she must choose between a life of transient safety and one of riskier rewards . . . and that in the darkest hour, love is the only true safe haven."
Those were some of the books that I can't wait to begin reeding, maybe after I finish reeding each book I will do a small review of the book, just to share a little bit with you my thoughts. So yeah, thats it...
